Our Lives in Lockdown

Our Lives in Lockdown

With lockdown forcing upon us sectioned unplanned time at home, it has opened up for many, time to readdress, reflect and to make various plans going forward. The drastic change has meant that the Crowther Chartered Accountants team has moved from the comfort of the office to being spread across Yorkshire, using video chat and calls to communicate. Throughout these difficult times, at Crowther, they have aimed to support all clients through multiple forms of media. Practice Manager, Steph Moore and Payroll Manager, Gemma Giles have been emailing out Coronavirus updates to all clients containing all the relevant information according to the government updates, which have been a great help for all. These have included information on Government grants, furlough leave and situations regarding individual VAT payments.

Steve, the Managing Director, has worked from home throughout the pandemic. “As for all, this is undoubtedly an unprecedented time. Throughout the 25 years of running this practice I have never known anything like this. However, the team have adapted; providing support, reacting and delivering solutions to many of the financial difficulties our clients have had to face. I would not have been able to tackle this time without their help. Our aim throughout has been to continually support clients, answering all their questions and to create a safe, supportive space for all.

When asked what Steve has done in his spare time to relax, he said “Being at home with my family is a rare opportunity. With the kids now in their 20’s, spending so much time with them has been something I never thought would happen again. As for some “me time”, I have loved being able to go cycling and walking, allowing me space and time to take my mind off everything. However, I am very much looking forward to getting back in goal for the Crowther Chartered Accountants 5-aside football team, along with being able to restart our weekly friendly tennis matches.”

“Although we have all missed out on events, I am sure when everything returns to normal, we will have many more and celebrate what great things we have all achieved within these times. I am also excited for our next staff social. This time last year we were all out in Benidorm, and we were going to Salou for another great weekend on the 18th of June. Although it is disappointing that we couldn’t make it, I have no doubt we will make up for it next year.”

The firm has remained positive throughout and has held a zoom quiz social, where Trainee Accountant, Caroline Pinder took the victory. Over the coming days and weeks, you will be able to discover what the team at Crowther Chartered Accountants has been up to on Instagram and other social media platforms. The entire team hope everyone is safe and well and look forward to welcoming people back to the office as soon as they can.
