Not sure on something?
How better to let off some steam after a hard day’s work and ditch the suit in exchange for their kit and meet other companies wishing to do the same. We have several team members here at Crowther, all of whom love the game of football. The majority of which are Huddersfield Town fans. Our enthusiastic team jumped at the opportunity to have a friendly kick around. We thought, seeing as the lads spend so much time following their beloved game, that a bit of healthy competition amongst the local business community wouldn’t go a miss. We have been quick to receive offers to challenge The Crowther Crusaders so far playing the matches below. Of course, we can’t possibly host a game without the post-match obligatory trip to the pub where we enjoy a bit of banter by dissecting the match in hand. We would love you to challenge us to a game soon, so please contact Sam@crowther.accountants to get a date in the diary. Don’t worry if you don’t have enough people to make up a full team, we have others on the sideline who will be only too happy to join you to make your team complete. A huge thank you to all who have taken on the challange so far.
Game 1 – Leonard Curtis.
Warming up and watching the other team prepare I think we were all secretly worried inside… This feeling got even greater as after 5 minutes we found ourselves 1-0 down and struggling to breath!
However, we rallied and with what seemed to be a second wind, started to play some nice triangles, with good movement and the goals started to flow at both ends.
The final score was 18 – 15 to team Crowther (I think) which was a fair reflection of the match, in the end our quick passing wore down the opposition.
Game 2 – Ramsdens Solicitors.
Next up was a trip to Leeds Road sports complex where we faced Ramsdens in a 7-a-side game. Following a couple of favours from Anthony & Rob from our previous opponents Leonard Curtis we managed to field the required 7.
Once again, we weren’t in confident mood after seeing the quality of the opposition, and like the first match we got off to a slow start. 2-0 down inside 5 minutes…
However, our fitness and graft pulled us back in to the game again, playing a containing style with a swift counter attack we managed to go on to win the game 8-3. This was a great defensive display after the early set-back, almost nullifying the oppositions quality on the ball.
This win was extra satisfying for us after playing the full game with no substitutes against an opposition with 6 subs.
We will now re-convene with Ramsdens in a re-match on 29th May.
Game 3 – Lloyds Bank.
We were back at The Zone for our next game against a well-balanced Lloyds team, early into the game we realised that these guys had played before! We struggled to match the sharpness and quick feet of the opposition and could not keep up to the pace of the game.
The crisp passing was still a feature of our game but we were let down by poor finishing and missed opportunities.
In the end we were comfortably beaten by the better side whose power was too much for us. Final score 17-13.
We are looking forward to our next match which is on the 29th May at 6pm to play the second leg against Ramsden’s Rovers. What this space to find out how we get on. Of course you are welcome to come down to The Zone, St. Andrews Road, Huddersfield https://the-zone.co/ on the 26th May to see if you fancy coming to watch the Crowther Crusaders and Ramsden Rovers play their second game.
